The Kaiāwhina’s role is to make sure people feel safe, welcomed, and supportedwhen they come to Wāhi Mārie. They can support you during your appointment orphone call, help you navigate next steps, and provide practical or cultural support—helping you feel at ease, understand what’s happening, and ensuring your voice isheard. Grounded in manaakitanga and whanaungatanga, the Kaiāwhina helps createa space where people feel respected, comfortable, and empowered in their care.

Our clinical team has specialist medical and forensic training in sexual assault andstrangulation care.​

We are here to support you in a way that feels safe, respectful, and at your pace. Wecan walk alongside you, helping you understand what’s happening, talking throughyour options, and offering treatment if and when you feel ready. ​

If you choose, we can help with referrals, connect with other healthcare providers onyour behalf, and support you with an ACC claim.​
